Today (Monday), Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced the launch of the “Revitalization of Historic Jeddah” project as part of the Historic Jeddah Development Program, which aims to develop the living space in the region to en making it an attractive hub for business and cultural projects, and a major destination for budding entrepreneurs.
The project is set against the backdrop of the Crown Prince’s concern and interest in the preservation, preservation and rehabilitation of historic sites, in order to achieve the goals of Vision 2030 and reflect the Arab and Islamic depth of the Kingdom as one of the most important pillars of the vision.
The project aims to showcase the heritage monuments of the region, as it is an unprecedented historical site in the Kingdom, as it contains: more than 600 heritage buildings, 36 historic mosques and five large historical markets, as well as ancient corridors and squares, and sites of historical significance, such as the old waterfront, which was a major route for pilgrims, and which the project will rebuild to tell visitors about historic Jeddah the great history of pilgrimage since the dawn of Islam.
Work on the project spans 15 years, during which historic Jeddah will be developed along multiple tracks, including infrastructure and services, development of natural and environmental domains, improvement of quality of life and the enhancement of urban aspects.
The project aims to make historic Jeddah an inspiring site in the region and a global front for the Kingdom by investing its heritage sites and unique cultural and urban elements to build a vital living space in which creative possibilities are available for its people. inhabitants and its visitors, based on a modern vision of town planning in which the concept of natural conservation and the need to harmonize it with the needs of the human being and the catalysts of the spontaneous growth of creativity, thus makes a creativity incubator where Saudi entrepreneurs and artists come together in a creative creative community.
It also aims to create an integrated environment in the historic city of Jeddah which has multiple natural components including 5 km of landscaped waterfronts, green spaces and open gardens covering 15% of the total area of Jeddah Al-Balad. and in the 2.5 square kilometer project area. The project will take advantage of these natural components by transforming them into elements that support a healthy and sustainable environment in which the causes of environmental pollution are absent.
The “Revitalization of Historic Jeddah” project is a major aspect of the efforts of the Historic Jeddah Development Program to invest the historical, cultural and urban elements of the region and transform them into economic tributaries that contribute to the growth of the domestic product.
It also reflects part of the Kingdom’s orientation towards achieving sustainable development in all Saudi regions and cities, through environmentally friendly urban development projects, which have natural incubators for creative production and attractive places to live and work, which contribute to economic growth.
