The guardian of the two holy mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, received a telephone call today from the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Angela Merkel, in which the two sides agreed on the need to fight against all forms of extremism and terrorism.
During the call, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in various areas, and supported efforts to ensure that the work of the G20 summit is hosted by the Kingdom this this month.
The guardian of the two holy mosques affirmed the condemnation of the Kingdom and his firm condemnation of the terrorist operations which were committed recently in France and Austria.
He also underlined the position of the Kingdom which strongly condemns the offensive of the cartoons to the Messenger ﷺ and that freedom of expression is a moral value which promotes respect and coexistence between peoples, and not a tool to spread hatred and a cultural and civilizational confrontation.
The guardian of the two holy mosques spoke of the importance of strengthening the rapprochement between the followers of religions and civilizations, of spreading the values of tolerance and moderation and of rejecting all forms of practices generating hatred, violence and extremism.
