The Director General of the National Fisheries Development Program, Mr. Ali Al-Sheikhi, has called on the border guards to postpone the implementation of a "fisherman" project, which requires the presence of fishers. a citizen on every fishing boat entering the sea.
In an address to the director general of the border guards, Sheikhi said that the delay in implementation had come to re-examine the project with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the sheikhs of the fishing community.
He added that the meeting held in the Jeddah Room with several government agencies to study the obstacles of the "fisherman" project had resulted in recommendations, including: the Ministry of Labor to study the resettlement of the fishing profession and the guards; to strengthen the supervisory and standardization role of procedures.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced the entry into force of the project "Hunter" on September 30, 2018, which requires the presence of a citizen aboard any vessel or fishing vessel entering the sea.
