The Departments of Trade and Investment and Municipal and Rural Affairs have launched an initiative to correct misleading commercial signs.
The initiative aims to protect consumers from misinformation and confusion, to promote the business environment and investment, to protect the identity of the company and to ensure that the names are not bypassed.
The initiative requires traders to clarify the name in the table in its entirety and identical to what was registered in the trade register and to prevent the reduction of certain words and the enlargement of some others so that the store belongs to a well known chain.
The initiative also bans the imitation of names, identities and trademarks and encourages business owners to build a reputation for trust without resorting to circumvention or theft of brands of trade and reserved identities.
