The General Authority for Zakah and Income Tax (GAZT) announced that it would prevent the importation of cigarette packets without valid and effective tax stamps.
She explained that the enforcement of the ban would be carried out in cooperation with the General Authority of Customs, pursuant to the provisions of the Selective Tax Sealing Tax System of the Unified selective taxation between GCC countries.
The Authority pointed out that the tax stamp was in the form of a poster or code containing encrypted digital data activated electronically.
The Authority has already obliged importers of tobacco products to obtain tax stamps and will prevent the sale and circulation of cigarette packages without tax stamps.
