The General Authority of Tourism revealed that the percentage of obtaining tourist guide licenses had increased by 224%, 315 licenses having been issued in the first half of this year, compared with 97 issued during the same period in 2018.
The number of licensed tour guides has reached 668, and the Madinah region is at the leading edge in terms of the number of licensed guides.
She pointed out that the income of the guide with long experience and higher certificates had reached 3,000 riyals per day.
The Authority stated that she had so far received 1,400 applications from both sexes for the purpose of obtaining a license allowing her to practice the profession of tour guide and that she was in the process of completing the formalities to grant them licenses.
