The spokesman of the Ministry of the Interior's Vital Statistics Agency, Mohammad Al-Jasser, explained the most important changes to the procedures relating to women, according to recent decisions.
He added that women could now choose and determine their home and place of residence, as well as receive legal advice and communications.
Al-Jasser said that according to the latest amendments, women can report births whether the baby is his son or not.
The spokesman also stressed that the amendments granted women the status of "guardian" of children under 15 and gave them the same treatment as the father. In some cases, the mother could take regular measures regarding marital status regarding her minor children, such as issuing a national identity card.
