In 2009, following the US and Mexican case announcements, WHO launched an epidemic alert program

Moroccan Health Minister Anas Dalkali said in Rabat on Saturday that the H1N1 flu has killed nine people in Morocco this week. "The epidemiological situation remains normal compared to previous years," the minister told the Moroccan press agency SPA.

Wednesday's media reported the first death. Since then, disturbing rumors have circulated on social networking sites. The official record Thursday was five dead, announced the Ministry of Health. On the same day, government spokesman Mustapha al-Khaliji said: "Efforts continue to monitor all cases registered in a hospital".

Swine flu is the common name for H1N1, a respiratory disease caused by contact with pigs and transmitted from person to person by inhalation. In 2009, following the announcement of cases in the United States and Mexico, the World Health Organization issued a pandemic alert in 2010.
