A journalist asked "Aura" A Russian martial arts hero from the Russian Muslim province of Dagestan explained why he did not lift the Russian flag when he entered the ring.
Normamedov replied with dismay: "I always do that (raise the Russian flag) .All in America call me (in Russian) because they do not know Dagestan, Chechnya and the Caucasus".
He added: "The Americans see us as a state, but more importantly, we Russians see ourselves as a state and we do not divide that state into groups."
Normamedov concluded his response with dismay: "Do not ask me these silly questions anymore."
The famous Russian fighter is proud of his origins in Dagestan, where he is keen to wear the famous hat in this region, before and after each battle.
