Nutritionist: Don’t take a vitamin D supplement except with this?

Dietitian Whitney Crouch has revealed that taking vitamin D supplements that aren’t associated with a large food group is unlikely to allow your body to fully absorb its huge benefits.
Crouch told the “Eat This Not That” website that taking vitamin D or including it in your diet has many benefits for staying healthy.
According to the site, the Mayo Clinic reports that anyone between the ages of 1 and 70 should receive 600 international units (IU) of vitamin D per day. And after 70 years, this amount should increase to 800 international units.
The website quoted MindBodyGreen as saying that vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin; This means that unlike other vitamins, it does not dissolve when combined with water. Instead, it must be combined with fat to be properly distributed and absorbed by the body.
Crouch advises that the fats we consume with our vitamin D are “good,” citing olive oil, avocado oil, and flaxseed oil as examples of healthy fats.
As for how much fat we need with vitamin D, a 2013 study suggested that foods with around 10 grams of fat can promote optimal absorption of vitamin D.
