NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Pancreatic cancer is more deadly in overweight patients under 50, according to a new study. Scientists from the American Cancer Society have found that a BMI equal to or greater than 30 increases the risk of death from pancreatic cancer by 25%.
According to Daily Mail, obesity could be at the origin of an increased risk of pancreatic cancer, especially since many studies have shown that weight gain was a factor in major risk for many diseases, including several types of cancer, in the uterus and the esophagus.
