It has been reported recently that the Facebook company Oculus was considering launching a new headset for virtual reality today. In fact, the company today announced the Oculus Rift S virtual reality headset at the GDC 2019 Annual Game Developers Conference. The cost of this headset is $ 399 and will be available for purchase this spring.
This new helmet has a price around 50 dollars higher than the previous helmet. Obviously, they had some improvements, especially for better accuracy in addition to the same integrated audio system that we saw in the Oculus Quest headphones. According to Oculus, the new Oculus Rift S comes with OLED displays of 1280 x 1440 pixels, but the refresh rate has gone from 90Hz to 80Hz.
According to reports, the field of vision of this new helmet is also slightly wider than that of the previous model. As with the Oculus Quest headset, the new Oculus Rift S comes with the Oculus Touch wireless handshake. In addition, it includes five tracking cameras, knowing that users can also use these cameras to watch their surroundings without having to remove the headset with the help of a feature called + Passthrough.
Oculus said he worked with Lenovo on the redesign of the helmet, helping to improve comfort, avoid lighting and spread the weight. As always, a computer capable of handling virtual reality headsets will still be needed.
