The Super Cup was to be held at Rades Stadium, home of the African Champions League Esperance, and CAF participated in the Super Cup of the Champions League.
Esperance crowned the title of the African Champions League at the expense of Algerian Al Ahli, preparing for the Super Cup and participating in the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi.
Moroccan Raja won the African Confederation Cup title at the expense of Congolese club Vita.
