Paris Saint-Germain and Nîmes announced on Monday the death of former French defender Jean-Pierre Adams at the age of 73, almost 40 years after falling into a coma following a medical error.
In 1982, Adams received a nearly fatal dose of anesthesia while undergoing conventional knee surgery, causing brain damage.
Adams, born in Dakar, played 22 caps for France in the 1970s and formed a duet with Marius Tresor known as the “Black Guard”.
Adams played with Nîmes during the period 1970-1973, and defended the colors of Paris Saint-Germain during the period 1977-1979, coming from Nice.
Since the accident, Adams has been treated by his wife Bernadette
