US pharmaceutical giant “Pfizer” and its German partner “Biontech” made more progress on their promising vaccine against Coronavirus (Covid-19), announcing today, Wednesday, that the drug is 95% effective and passed a key safety milestone.

In a joint statement, the two companies said the investigational vaccine was working almost well among a large group of the population, namely people over 65, with an effective rate of over 94%.

The statement said the results had come at the end of the third phase of the test, in which the developers also took a major step in the safety data required to obtain an emergency license from the Food and Drug Administration of United States.

He added that no serious safety concerns had been observed during clinical trials.

The two companies plan to submit an application to the Food and Drug Administration to approve the vaccine “within days.”

The two companies are expected to deliver up to 50 million doses of the vaccine globally in 2020, and reach 1.3 billion doses in 2021.

It is reported that the MNA vaccine, which uses a new form of medical technology that relies on the genetic code of the Coronavirus, must be stored at temperatures below minus 70 degrees Celsius, which has cast doubt on its logistical efficiency.

The statement added: “Pfizer is confident in its vast experience, knowledge and current cold chain infrastructure to distribute the vaccine worldwide.”
