The Al-Arabiya correspondent reported on Monday that the Jordanian State Security Court sentenced Bassem Awadallah and Sharif Hassan bin Zaid to 15 years after sentencing them in the sedition case for destabilizing society in Jordan, while Sharif Hassan bin Zaid was sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of JD 1,000 for drug use.

According to the Al-Arabiya correspondent, the defense in the “sedition case” in Jordan will appeal to the Court of Cassation after the conviction of the defendants.

This morning, Monday morning, the sentencing session began in the case known to Jordanian media as the “sedition affair” and aimed at the security of Jordan, while the Al-Arabiya correspondent spoke declared that the sentencing session in this case will be public.

The Jordanian State Security Court said the defendants in the sedition case had a friendly relationship and had anti-king views. She added that the first defendant, Bassem Awadallah, had incited against the king, and that the defendants (Bassem Awadallah and Sharif Hassan bin Zaid) tried to implement their anti-state ideas by causing chaos and incitement against the king.

The president of the court added, in a live television broadcast: accusing the case of “sedition” took advantage of the economic, social and political conditions in the Kingdom and the surrounding region to sow chaos in the country.

The presiding judge explained: “The two defendants have achieved a convergence of their wills in an organized criminal project with unified objectives aimed at translating into reality their ideas of counterattack and incitement, causing division within Jordanian society and spreading hate speech against the regime. “
