Media Ihab al-Khatib, head of the official Al-Ahly club, caused a wide controversy on social networks, after announcing that his administration was considering buying a European club to compete for the European Champions League, the “League of champions ”.
Al-Khatib said on the official Al-Ahly channel that Al-Hamra will own a club in one of the European leagues that bears the name of Al-Ahly and will compete to qualify for the Champions League.
He also explained that “this project is being prepared by the board of directors of the Al-Ahly club headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib and members of the Council”.

After the video was posted on the channel’s official social media pages, for less than an hour, it was removed without explanation.
This raised many questions among Egyptian football fans.
Meanwhile, an Egyptian source from Al-Ahly confirmed to “Sputnik” that there was absolutely no truth in what Ihab Al-Khatib announced, pointing out that the club had corrected the mistake by deleting quickly the video, after it was posted only about half an hour.
It is noteworthy that Al-Ahly won the Egyptian League last season, then won the African Champions League for the ninth time in Chateau Rouge history and concluded his successful season by crowning the Egyptian Cup. for the 37th time in the club’s history.
