The Portuguese Presidency denied Friday in an official statement the withdrawal of honorary honors received by Cristiano Ronaldo, star of Juventus.
According to the presidential statement, the Honorary Honorary Council of Portugal decided not to withdraw Cristiano's medals in Portugal after finding that his conviction for tax evasion in Spain did not justify his withdrawal.
Spanish newspaper AS confirmed that the Portuguese presidency, reacting to all the rumors concerning the withdrawal of the medals obtained by the Portuguese star, said that Ronaldo's position was not in accordance with the law, which provides for the opening of a survey to assess the issue of the withdrawal of honorary decorations.
Ronaldo received the Order of the Year "Infante Don Enrique", the highest medal of Portugal and the Medal of Honor in 2016 after winning the European Nations Championship with his country.
At the January 22 meeting, Don signed an agreement with the Spanish tax authority, which provides for a suspended jail sentence of 23 months and a fine of 18.8 million euros.
