Presidential spokesman unveils first day of Arab-European summit

The President of the European Council, Abdel Fattah Sisi, today presided over the first day of the first Arab-European summit, to be held from 24 to 25 February in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Ambassador Bassam Radi, spokesperson for the President, said that the President had delivered the opening speech of the Summit, which included a review of the common challenges and threats facing the Arab and European worlds, such as terrorism and the exacerbation of hotbeds of conflict in the region.

The meeting highlighted Egypt's vision of facing these challenges and how to overcome them, as well as the promising opportunities to enhance cooperation and integration between Arab and European partners, as well as that the importance of the Sharm el-Sheikh summit to create a platform for direct and constructive dialogue between the two sides on regional and international issues and threats.

The opening session was followed by the first plenary session of the Summit, which included the speeches of several Arab and European delegations, mainly on ways to strengthen the Euro-Arab partnership in accordance with the principles of equality. and mutual benefit, addressing global challenges and stressing the need for political will to promote coexistence and mutual understanding. , Governed by historical, geographical and human extension.

Most of the speeches also welcomed the organization of this historic event, the first of its kind ever held, bringing together a wide range of Arab and European leaders in the framework of the League of Arab States and the Union. European, reflecting the distinguished international and regional status of Egypt as a bridge between civilizations. As a center of gravity for the maintenance of stability in the Middle East, especially in light of the critical period during which the region is suffering from tensions and upheavals, as well as the diversity of challenges that surround it, It is necessary to coordinate the common positions of the Arab and European worlds to meet them.

Radhi added that the Euro-Arab summit, which will be on the theme of "Investing in Stability", will close tomorrow, while other delegations will complete their statements at the second plenary session and an in camera session. Leaders and leaders will be organized to discuss many issues of common interest.
