The guardian of the two holy mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, stressed the need to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, stressing the importance of making the Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction.

In a speech he gave by video link to the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, he added that Iran is a neighboring country, expressing the Kingdom’s hope that talks with him will build relationships.

He also added that Saudi Arabia’s foreign policy is based on supporting dialogue to achieve peace.

Initiative to end the conflict

Regarding Yemen, the guardian of the two holy mosques stressed that his country respects the national sovereignty of all countries and does not interfere in their internal affairs, stressing that the Houthi militias continue to attack civilian property in the Kingdom on a daily basis.

He noted that the Yemen peace initiative presented by the Kingdom is sufficient to end the conflict.

He also clarified that peace is the strategic choice for the Middle East.

In a related context, the King announced that the Kingdom continues to fight against extremist ideology.

Renaissance dam and climate

As for the Renaissance Dam crisis, the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques announced that the Kingdom supports a peaceful solution to the crisis, guaranteeing the rights of Egypt and Sudan.

He added that Riyadh presented the Saudi Green Initiative and the Green Middle East.

She stressed the importance of concerted efforts to deal with the effects of climate change.

Coronavirus crisis

Meanwhile, King Salman announced that Saudi Arabia has provided $ 500 million to deal with the Corona pandemic.

He stressed that the Kingdom is committed to providing humanitarian aid to countries in need, noting that it has supported global efforts to deal with the repercussions of the epidemic.

He stressed that the recovery after Corona depends on everyone’s cooperation.

Yemen Initiative

It should be noted that Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced months ago a new initiative to end the war in Yemen, including a ceasefire in the whole country, under the supervision of the United Nations.

This initiative received wide Arab and international reception, as the United Nations hailed, amid intransigence by the Houthi militia.
