Britain’s Royal Palace has announced that Prince Harry and his wife Meghan will no longer be active members of the British Royal Family.
Queen Elizabeth II assured that the spouses would not take over the responsibilities and tasks performed by the members of the royal family.
The British Royal Palace said in a statement that Harry and Meghan “will remain much loved members of the royal family”.
Prince Harry and his wife Megan Markle said they offered to support the institutions they represented as part of “public service.”
The move means Harry and Meghan will relinquish any honorary military role or rank and quit sponsorship of some of the charities they officially represent.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced last January that they would abdicate their duties as two prominent members of the Royal Family and work to support themselves financially.
The couple formally ended the waiver process in March and will reconsider that decision after a 12-month period.
“My family and I fully support Harry and Meghan’s desire to start a new life as a family in their prime,” the Queen said in a statement.
“While we would have preferred to remain active members of the Royal Family at all times, we respect and understand their desire to lead more independent lives …” the Queen’s statement added.
After stepping down from royal duties, Harry and Meghan now live in California.
Buckingham Palace had determined the changes in the roles of Prince Harry and his wife, who were portrayed in the spouses ceasing to use royal titles, receiving no share of public money, in addition to the fact that Harry renounced his honorary military posts, and return the amount paid out of public money to prepare his residence, which amounted to £ 2.4 million.
And the couple announced earlier this week that they are expecting their second child, and Buckingham Palace and the rest of the Royal Family have announced their happiness with the news, expressing their best wishes for the family of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
