Qatar beats Japan and wins the 2019 Asian Cup

The Qatari team won the Asian Cup for the first time in their history after beating Japan 3-1 on Friday at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi during the final of the 17th edition of the tournament organized by the Emirates United Arab Emirates.

Al Moez Ali Abdullah opened the scoring for the Qatari team in the 12th minute and Abdelaziz Hatem added the second goal in the 27th minute.

Al-Moez Ali became the player who scored the most in a single edition of the Asian Cup, where he raised his score to nine goals, defeating Iranian Daei, who scored eight goals when of the 1996 edition of the United Arab Emirates.

Al-Muez Ali was the top scorer of the Arab Cup in the UAE with Ali Mabkhout, who scored five goals in 2015 and four in the current edition.

Qatar won the Asian Cup for the first time in the history of the tournament after winning all seven matches of the 2019 Asian Cup, having never passed the quarter-finals from a previous version.

Japan, which holds a record number of crowns, has failed to qualify for the fifth time in its history, having been crowned fourth in the 2011 Qatar edition.
