Abu Dhabi – Tomorrow – The Qatari team defeated the Japanese Samurai at the 2019 Asian Cup for the first time, beating Friday 3-1 a win at Madinat Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Qatar's Moez Ali scored in the 12th minute, Abdul Aziz Hatem in the 27th minute, Akram Afif in the 83rd minute and Japan's Takumi Minamino scored in the 69th minute.
Qatar striker Al-Moez Ali has broken the record of goals scored in a copy of the Asian Cup and Iranian clerk Ali Daei since 1996, opening the scoring against Japan on Friday.
Al-Mu's izz raised his score to 9 goals against 8 for Daei, when he opened the score at Zayed Sports City from a beautiful plastic ball in the 12th minute after a pass from the middle of offensive ground Akram Afif.
Al-Moez scored a goal against Lebanon, then a quad against North Korea and a brace against Saudi Arabia in the group stage. In the semifinal, he held the record against Iraq and South Korea before returning to a semi-final goal against the UAE.
The top scorer of the Qatar team was the quarterfinals in 2000 and 2011.
Qatar and Japan have played four matches in the Asian Cup, winning a team victory against a draw in two games.
Qatar won the first match between the two teams, a 3-0 win in 1988, then drew 1 to 1 in Lebanon in the 2000 edition.
