BERLIN (Reuters) – Qatar, the Asian Cup champion, climbed to 55th place in the FIFA rankings on Thursday.
The Qatari team crowned the Asian Cup for the first time in its history earlier this month after beating Japan 3-1 in the tournament final.
Qatar has gained 38 seats at the same time to reach its best position since 1993, following its impressive performance at the UAE championship.
The recent Asian Cup has been at the origin of all notable changes in FIFA's first ranking in 2019, given the lack of international matches from the previous period.
The Qatari team was not the only one to move up the rankings, with Japan, Asia and Asia taking 23 points and 23 points, South Korea moving from 15 places to 38th place in the world, and United Arab Emirates 12-place squad to occupy the center of the 67, While the Jordanian team jumped 12 centers to occupy the center of 97, the Iraqi team has increased eight centers to occupy the 80th place and the Iranian team of seven places to occupy the twentieth place, thus maintaining the top of the Asian ranking.
The top ten remained unchanged, with the Belgian team still leading the standings, with France ranking second, Brazilian, Croatian, English, Portuguese, Uruguayan, Swiss, Spanish and Danish.
Senegal remains at the top of the African rankings, ranking 24th in the world, followed by Tunisia in 28th place and Morocco in 43rd place. (AFP)
