American pornstar Ron Jeremy faces charges of 34 sex crimes against 21 women over a 20-year span, according to Los Angeles prosecutors.
Prosecutors accuse Jeremy of sexually assaulting women, aged 15 to 51, between 1996 and 2019. He faces a prison sentence of over 300 years if convicted.
Jeremy, 68, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.
Ron Jeremy is one of the biggest names in the porn industry, having appeared in over 1,700 films since 1979.
The August 19 indictment, released on Wednesday, includes the commission of 12 rapes, including the rape of a 17-year-old girl in 2008 and another of a 15-year-old girl in 2004.
His last charge dates back to January 1, 2020, when a 21-year-old woman alleges that he raped her and engaged in violent sexual activity with her.
On Wednesday, his lawyer said Jeremy maintains he’s completely innocent.
Jeremy, real name Ronald Jeremy Hayatt, remains in jail awaiting the payment of $ 6.6 million bail.
To avoid an initial public hearing that would have involved witnesses testifying in open court, prosecutors in Los Angeles presented their interventions in the case to a secret jury for a conviction.
The same method was used in the case of Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Jeremy appeared in court last June on charges relating to the rape and sexual assault of two other women between 2014 and 2019. At the time, his lawyer denied the charges, saying Jeremy was a “lover of more than 4,000 women “and that” women They pounce on him. ”
Although a trial date has yet to be set, Jeremy is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles court on October 12 for a pre-trial consultation.
Jeremy is one of the few men, besides Weinstein, whose cases have been investigated by the Attorney General’s Task Force investigating allegations of sexual abuse in Hollywood as a result of the campaign. “Me Too”.
“Sexual assault survivors are often isolated,” Los Angeles Attorney General George Gascon said in a statement.
“We need to ensure that survivors have all the options available to help them recover, including trauma-informed recovery services and support to report these crimes,” he added.
