MADRID (Reuters) – Robert Moreno said on Tuesday that he was ready to step down from his Spain coaching post and appeal to Luis Enrique 's wish he would resume the work that he was doing. he had left in June, a few weeks before the death of his daughter.
Enrique resigned, leaving La Roja to take over from his assistant Moreno. While the former Barcelona coach had declared at the time the reasons for his family's departure, it turned out that his daughter was suffering from bone cancer and announced his died last week at the age of nine.
At a press conference Tuesday in preparation for the Euro 2020 qualifications, Mr Moreno said: "There is a situation that we must respect and I do not think that he is thinking about this question for the moment, evoking the return to power.

Prior to collaborating in the 2010 Champions League, Moreno had worked as an assistant to Enrique in the clubs of Celta Vigo, Rome and Barcelona.
Enrique, 49, has taken the leadership of the national team after leaving the finals of the World Cup in Russia in the summer of 2018, but has been absent from his job since last March for "reasons imperious family ", according to the Spanish Federation.
Moreno made the remarks before the two qualifying matches of the European Championship Spain against Romania on Thursday and against the Faroe Islands on Sunday.
The European champions in 2008 and 2012 lead Group F with 12 points on four wins in four games, five points behind Sweden and Romania.
