Real Madrid sided with Roma on penalties after a 2-2 draw in their opening match Sunday at Stadio Olimpico in preparation for the new season.
Brazilian duo Marcelo and Casemiro scored both goals in the 16th and 38th minutes respectively. The two forwards, Argentina's Diego Perotti and Bosniak's Eden Djiko, scored in the 34th and 40th minutes, respectively.
Marcelo, the first goal of Real, missed the fifth penalty of the Royal team. His ball hit the bar and bounced off the field, losing Meringue (4-5) on penalties.
