Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has denied having had any influence on Barcelona’s decision to allow former captain Lionel Messi to leave the La Liga club.
Messi was due to stay at Barcelona after agreeing to cut his salary by 50%, but an exciting development happened last Thursday which led the Argentina striker to move to Paris Saint-Germain as part of a free deal Tuesday.
Catalan club president Joan Laporta blamed La Liga rules on financial fair play.
However, Gawmbi Ubis, a former board member of the ESPY Barcelona Camp Nou renovation project, resigned his post following Messi’s departure before accusing Laporta of complying with Perez’s wishes.

Perez insisted in a statement released by Real Madrid that he had only met Riverter twice before, one four months ago and the other last Saturday at a dinner attended by Laporta and Andrea Agnelli, president of Juventus.
“The statement and the decision regarding Messi was published and taken at this time. It is therefore impossible for me to have any influence whatsoever on Messi’s departure, nor on any other decision taken by Barcelona. I hope Ubis will correct their false comments as soon as possible. “
Real Madrid and Barcelona have opposed the proposed deal with La Liga for € 2.7 billion because it gives CVC Private Equity a ten percent share of the league’s profits, while Real Madrid have decided to take legal action against the proposed offer.
