The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has warned of an increase in the number of AIDS-related deaths among adolescents.

According to a report published by the organization on its website on Thursday, Nov. 29, about 76 teens or teens would die each day (about 360,000 by 2030), because of AIDS.

The report, entitled "Children and HIV / AIDS: The World in 2030", indicated that the number of newly infected people, newborns up to 19, would rise to about 270,000 in 2030, which would be equivalent to a decrease of only one third.

According to current estimates, the number of deaths of children and adolescents due to AIDS will increase from 119,000 to 56,000 by 2030.

"The report reveals, no doubt, that the world is still a long way from being the right way to eradicate AIDS in children and adolescents by 2030," said the report. Executive Director of UNICEF, Henrietta Fur.

"Although prevention programs that prevent mother-to-newborn HIV transmission are bearing fruit, they have not come to fruition," she said.

"The number of HIV infections in Syria since the beginning of 2017 has reached 35, including 19 in Damascus," said Ahmed Damiriya, director of communicable diseases at the Ministry of Health, at local daily al-Watan.

He stressed the awareness of the recording of an injury to Homs and the same thing in the Damascus campaign, two injuries to Lattakia and two to Aleppo, three injuries to Tartus and seven injuries to Hama.

He pointed out that the number of casualties in 2016 has reached 18 injured, compared to 12 in 2015 and 23 in 2014 and 11 only in 2013, and in 2012, 37 injured and 69 injured in 2011.

In 2006 and 2009, the incidence of the disease was highest in Syria: the number of infections was 70 per year and the lowest in 1990 was limited to one.

On Saturday, January 1st, the world will celebrate World AIDS Day, which affects the immune system because of its exposure to HIV.
