Scientists have succeeded in building a machine capable of reading the human mind and turning ideas into words.
The idea of the machine is based on the same technology used in "Amazon Echo" and "Apple Siri", combining the system between the ability to form words and artificial intelligence to transform the business brain in clear sentences.
The machine is provided to paralyzed people after a stroke or the like, hoping to communicate with others even if they can not speak.
Nima Masarjani, professor of electrical engineering at Columbia University in New York, hopes the lives of thousands of people will change.
"Our voices are our way of communicating with our family and our world. The loss of sound power due to injury or illness is very devastating and we may have a new way to restore that strength today." , she said.
The machine has a function similar to that of the cheek muscle-activated speech generation device, just like the British cosmologist Stephen Hawking, who suffered from a severe motor neurodegenerative disease.
But the way things work is different: Dr. Masarajani's machine, described in the medical reports, works in such a way that words heard by a person are clearly reconstructed.
According to the British Daily Mail, the machine draws different patterns of brain activity and then appears as well-defined words.
In this process, a computer algorithm called VCODERD is used, which can synthesize speech after synthesizing the device on audio recordings.
"Sensitive audio encoders and powerful neural networks represent the sounds we listen with incredible precision," said Dr. Masarjani.
Researchers now plan to test more complex words and sentences by performing the same tests on cerebral signals emitted when a person is speaking or imagining their speech.
