Mars Insight's NASA mission has decided to name a rock band on one of the rocks of Mars.

For more than 50 years, the rock band The Rolling Stones has rocked movie theaters around the world and now, their impact seems to be spreading in space.

The Rolling Stones, which will be called the group, are slightly smaller than the size of a golf ball and would have rolled up to one meter when landing the Insight on Mars in November.

Rock was named by actor Robert Downey Jr. as members of the group. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts were preparing for a concert Thursday night at the Pasadena Rose Ball stadium, near NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

The group, known for such songs as Simbathi with The Devil and Brown Sugar, called the tribute "a milestone in its long and eventful history".

NASA said that although the name is unofficial, it would appear on the maps of Mars. Comets or other objects of the solar system receive official names only through the International Astronomical Union.
