Ronaldo's mother intervenes in the rape scandal

Dolores Aviero, the mother of Cristiano Ronaldo, spoke for the first time about the rape scandal, which follows Juventus' top scorer.

"I have full confidence in my son, I know him well," Ronaldo's mother told The Sun newspaper.

The mother of the Portuguese star: "Catherine did not go to play the card in my son's room at the hotel."

The former star of Real Madrid firmly denies the rape of Catherine Mayorga, nine years ago, describing the allegations against him with false news.

Dolores Aviero had already published a photo of Ronaldo through his calculations on social networking sites, commenting "we are with you".

"I want to see who has the courage to put this picture on his personal account for a week, for him, for us, for Portugal and for justice, he deserves it."

Juventus' lawyers in Las Vegas said in a previous statement that sex on the charge was "consensual".

Nevada police officially asked the Italian authorities for a sample of Ronaldo's DNA as part of Catherine Mayorga's rape investigation.
