Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday at the Arab summit that his country is ready to cooperate with Arab countries in all areas.

"Gentlemen, Heads of State and Government of the League of Arab States, I am delighted to welcome you on the occasion of the opening of the summit," Putin said at the meeting. Russian news agency Sputnik, quoted in the wired text of the official Kremlin website.

Putin noted that the tense situation in many countries in the Middle East and North Africa increases the importance of the League of Arab States as a mechanism for dialogue and multilateral interaction.
