Russian scientists discover a substance to treat Parkinson's disease

Constantine Volcho, senior researcher at the Institute of Organic Chemistry Novosibirsk, announced the discovery of a new class of substances that eliminate the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and contribute to the regeneration of neurons.

The Institute's experts used a substance that restored the ability of animals artificially infected with Parkinson's disease. But this substance only affects the symptoms of the disease.

Researchers have been successful in obtaining material derived from the substance, one of which helps keep neurons alive without affecting the growth of other tissues, eliminating the problem of malignant tumors. Experiments on laboratory mice have confirmed their effectiveness.

"It seems that we have achieved complete success, the neurons affected by toxins have practically recovered, which gives hope for a treatment not only of the symptoms, but also of the complete treatment of the disease and the restoration of the nerve cells", says Constantine Volcho.

According to him, this article will be tested on monkeys after passing some financial and ethical problems. He added that the substance could be tested on the cells of infected people in order to establish a "library" of effective compounds in the fight against the disease.
