"Samsung" and "Apple" in court because of "cancer"

Apple and Samsung have been sued for making allegations that their phones would expose users to radio frequency emissions of up to 500% across federal borders.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) tests phones with a "specific absorption rate" that measures the rate of electromagnetic radiation absorbed by the body when it is exposed to an electromagnetic field.

According to the FCC, no device sold in America can exceed 1.6 watts per gram of tissue on average, while European regulators allow a capacity of 2 watts per gram.

However, health activists consider these levels to be out of date, as the FCC guidelines were developed in 1997 and are largely based on tests conducted by the US military at the head of a 100-kg soldier.

But children can absorb more than 150% of the phone's radiation compared to adults and up to 10 times more by the skull. Today, according to researchers, the FCC guidelines are not enough.

Until now, no major public health organization has been able to link the use of the cell phone to cancer or other serious diseases, but several studies have shown that even at levels below those identified by the FCC, significant health effects are possible.

The plaintiffs in the lawsuit against tech giants have said they have already suffered from no illnesses or no health problems, but they are suing Apple and Samsung for misleading consumers at about potentially dangerous devices.
