After the production of the 512 GB eUFS 3.0 memory chips, Samsung now produces 12 GB RAM modules for smartphones.
The new unit is named LPDDR4X DRAM and these new modules are based on the LPDDR4X standard, which uses the 10 nm (1 year-nm) manufacturing process introduced last year.
To achieve this, Samsung has bundled six 16-chip LPDDR4X chips into a compact package that also consumes less power, resulting in a single 1.1mm unit.
In terms of performance, the LPDDR4X DRAM can achieve a data transfer rate of 34.1 Gbps while maintaining lower power consumption due to increased RAM capacity.
Finally, the new chips are expected to reach new generation smartphones early this year, and we hope to see them in Galaxy 10 and some of the companies that buy their chips from Samsung.
