Peripheral worlds

We've learned a lot about Neptune Triton's largest satellites since it was discovered in 1846, and some scientists believe that the world is oceanic, with liquid water and can also have a life inside. We will soon have a look at this moon: at a conference in Texas, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory on Tuesday proposed sending a spacecraft called Trident to Triton Moon, intended to study its validity for life.

Low cost task

According to the New York Times, instead of spending billions of dollars, the proposed Trident vehicle aims to limit the costs of the mission, without exceeding the cost of a small mission on the moon. "It is time to launch the low-cost mission, and we will examine the world's ability to live fully," said Louis Proctor, president of the Lunar and Planetary Institute at the Texas Global and Planetary Science Conference.

In addition to flying near Triton, Trident will also visit the Io moon and Venus of Jupiter, almost 20 years after the Cassini-Huygens vehicle visit to Venus. The last look we gave to the buyer was in general NASA Voyager 2 flew next to the planet, and it was also the first time that a spaceship was flying.

"We compare this proposed mission with the Trident vehicle to what the Voyager had seen in 1989, whose technology dated back to the 1970s, while it was equipped with a television camera connected to a fax machine," said Carl Mitchell, project scientist.
