DUBAI (Reuters) – Saudi Information Minister Turki Al-Shababah has clarified the nature of negotiations with Manchester United, denying reports that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman wanted to buy Manchester United.
"The announcement of Prince Mohammed bin Salman's desire to take control of Manchester United is totally unfounded," Saudi Arabia's Information Minister said in a tweet via his Twitter account.
He added that "the fact that the club has organized a meeting with the Public Investment Fund to discuss the sponsorship project and that the Fund has listened to the proposals, no investment has resulted in a result" .
British newspapers have announced that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was planning to buy Manchester United, stirring up a stir through social media.
