Saudi exports rise 120% in May to 82.2 billion riyals

Today, Wednesday, data from the Saudi General Statistics Authority showed that Saudi Arabian merchandise exports increased by 120% in May 2021, to reach 82.2 billion riyals, from 37.3 billion riyals in May 2020.

The authority attributed the increase in merchandise exports to the increase in oil exports of 35.8 billion rials, 146.7% in May last year, to 60.16 billion rials, from 24.39 billion rials in May 2020, and the proportion of oil exports to total exports increased from 65.3% in May 2020 to 73.2% in May 2021.

The value of merchandise exports increased by 10.5 billion rials, or 14.6%, compared to April 2021.

The authority said non-oil exports increased by 70% in May 2021, to register a value of about 22.01 billion riyals, compared to 12.95 billion riyals in May 2020.

The most important products in non-oil exports were plastics, rubber and their products equivalent to 35.4% of total non-oil exports, and it increased by 3.5 billion rials, 82.9%, and chemicals industry products increased by 86.4%, equivalent to 31.7% of total non-oil exports.

In terms of imports, the authority said it had increased by 20.3%, equivalent to 7.5 billion rials, in May 2021, to reach 44.4 billion rials, against 36.9 billion rials. rials in May 2020, due to the rise in commodity prices by to May 2020, the most influential of which was transportation equipment and its parts by 36.4%, and metal products by 139.3%, and the Import value decreased compared to the previous April by about 5.4 billion rials, by 10.8%.
