According to the British Daily Mail, a scientific team at the University of Salford has discovered a cell that could be responsible for all other cancer cells and thinks it is the mother cell responsible for all cancers.
The researchers hope this discovery will be the first way to escape current treatment methods, including chemotherapy.
Professor from the University of Salford, Michael Lisanti, stated that the team had performed laboratory tests on breast cancer patient samples and had used a bright dye to isolate the most active cells. They noted that some of these cells had stronger energy than the rest of the cells and could create tumors and induce the rapid spread of new cancer cells, called "active cancer stem cells".
Scientists thought that cancer was caused by the death of cells returning to life, "zombie cells". But it's more spectacular than that. The mother cell moves away from the general line of cells, malignant cells proliferate and produce tumors. "
He warned that certain types of chemotherapy could push the mother cells to produce more cancer cells.
