New York – Scientists have designed and tested a machine that allows them to read what's going on in the mind and turn ideas into speech.
They described this invention when they presented it as a "life changing" for those who are unable to communicate, such as the victims of a stroke.
This system combines the power of speech synthesis and artificial intelligence to turn brain activity into clear sentences. It is based on the same technology used by Amazon in his assistant Aiko and Apple in his assistant Siri.
It also allows people with paralysis after a stroke or accident to communicate with their friends and relatives despite the inability to speak.
According to the British Daily Mail, Nima Masgrani professor of electrical engineering at Columbia University in New York, said the new system "would give anyone who has lost the ability to speak, as a result of injury or disease, a new opportunity to connect to the world around it ".
"Our system can take the brain signals generated by this idea and make my speech," she said.
