A second cholera vaccination campaign will reach 400,000 people in Aden, Taiz and Dali in Yemen.
The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that the six-day oral cholera vaccination campaign in Yemen had reached some 400,000 people, including about 65,000 children under five years in Aden (Dali) and Taiz (Yemen).
The UN agency said Thursday in Geneva that the campaign was working in countries where there are suspicions of a high number of cases of cholera and acute watery diarrhea, pointing out that the first few months of this year have been the increase in the number of cases of acute watery diarrhea reported in the country. Between January and the end of July, there were approximately 536,000 suspected cases and 773 related deaths, with children under five accounting for one quarter of suspected cases.
