Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, said in an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey that the British royal family were concerned about the skin color of their baby, Archie, before he was born.
In an interview broadcast on Sunday, Duchess Winfrey said that when she was pregnant with her son Archie there were “fears and discussions about the color of her skin when he was born”.
The remark prompted Winfrey to ask her, “What?”, Incredibly quietly sitting for a moment.
Megan declined to disclose who had such a conversation with Harry, who passed the story on to her, saying revealing her name would be “very harmful”.
Megan said she was worried that her son Archie would not get the title of “Prince” as it means he will not be protected, noting that digesting everything during pregnancy was “very difficult”, and more important than the royal title at the time, was his concern for the safety and protection of his son.
The Duchess noted that it was difficult for her to understand why the royal family were worried about her son’s complexion. She indicated that it was difficult for her to “fragment” these hadiths.
Harry joined his wife later in the interview, and they revealed their second child would be a girl.
