Polish European champion Marcin Orbas has refused to recognize Namibian runner Christine Mboma’s victory at the current Summer Olympics in the Japanese capital Tokyo, demanding that her gender be clarified.
Mboma won the silver medal in the 200 meters, in the athletics competitions within the framework of the Olympic Games of “Tokyo 2020”, postponed last year, due to the Corona pandemic.
Orbas, the short-distance runner, called for a close examination of the Namibian runner, “Let her prove she’s a woman!”
Orbas estimated that the 18-year-old Namibian athlete by nature has a male mix of chromosomes, and testosterone levels are three times higher than those of women. Hence Mboma’s advantage over the other participants in the race.
“If we continue to see them as equal, it will be unfair to other riders who are certainly women,” said the Pole.
Today, athletes with high testosterone levels are prohibited from competing in distances of only 400, 800 and 1,500 meters.
It should be noted that Christine Mboma gave Namibia the first Olympic medal in 25 years.
