British singer Lily Allen gave more details on how she became addicted to the prescription drug ‘Adderall’ in 2014.
In a new interview, the 35-year-old said she took the drug for the purpose of losing weight before Miley Cyrus went on a tour.
“Wozner was tall and I didn’t feel like a pop star at all,” she told DJ Fat Tony on the “The Recovery” podcast.
“So I started taking this drug called Adderall, which is like amphetamine for weight loss,” she added.
“I became addicted to this drug because it made me invincible and allowed me to work really long hours and be whatever I wanted to do,” she said.
This is not the first time that Allen has discussed taking this drug, the prescription stimulant commonly used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
As the singer wrote in her 2018 diary, “I played with Adderall (which is really just amphetamine) to lose weight or stay slim.
“I act emotionally”
In the new interview, Allen recalled that she was on Cyrus’ “Bangers” tour, a job she took on to help improve her finances.
Allen gave birth twice in the three years leading up to the tour. Six months after the birth of her youngest child, Allen says she and her husband, Sam Cooper, ran out of money and “had to go on tour again.”
Allen, who was promoting “Cheesos,” her first album in six years, was worried about her appearance before the tour.
“It was when she was,” said Aline [سايرس] She works on the Rising Ball and the Bangers Tour and it was a very interesting thematic tour. And I had spent the last three years having children. I couldn’t feel less than me. ”
“I never went with anyone, so I was coming back to this pop star stage but I wasn’t doing it on my terms. I shared this girl who was younger and more attractive than I felt, and I started to act emotionally in all ways. ” “.
And she continued, “I started betraying my husband and always drank a lot of alcohol to get rid of the drugs, then I realized that I get up in the morning and drop little bottles. vodka or whiskey or whatever was drug free. “
She later thought about taking heroin but held back after “seeing what happens to people” who had used a Class A drug. I decided to start recovering instead.
Allen has previously openly discussed his relationship with drugs and has written about his experiences in his musicals.
Her 2009 song “At It” examines the spread of drugs in society, and the song’s lyrics include: “How do we start to tackle the problem / If you don’t raise your hand / Admit you take it? “
What is Adderall?
Adderall is a stimulant that is only prescribed by prescription in the United States.
It is prescribed to treat ADHD, which is a neurobehavioural condition characterized by hyperactivity, impulsivity, and difficulty concentrating.
Its use has increased over the past two decades, as more school-aged children have been prescribed “Adderall” along with another stimulant, “Ritalin”, which has similar effects.
However, if taken by a person without ADHD, the effect is to increase energy levels, focus and performance. This has led to its spread among adults.
A 2004 episode of “Desperate Housewives” featured a story in which an exhausted Lynette Scavo (Felicity Hoffman) began taking Ritalin as prescribed for her son, to help him cope with the demands of motherhood.
A Netflix documentary released in 2018, titled “Take Your Bells,” examined the popularity of the drug among groups such as college students who use it to improve their grades.
Decreased appetite and weight loss are possible side effects of Adderall, and can also cause anxiety, restlessness, and tremors.
Ritalin and Adderall are highly addictive and both have a high potential for abuse. There is a long-term risk of psychological and physical dependence from users who feel that they cannot function fully without them.
