Google, an affiliate of Alphabit, has been licensed by US regulators to begin using a radar-guided handheld sensor technology called Solly.
Solly helps to follow the movement of the hand to allow the user to control without touching the execution of tasks that can benefit people with movement disorders or speech.
The FCC said in a statement that it would allow Google to use Solie sensors at power levels higher than those currently allowed. The sensors can also be used on board aircraft, she said.
The device allows users to press an invisible button between thumb and index finger or manage a virtual disk that works by touching the thumb of the index finger.
"Although these controllers are hypothetical, the feeling of interaction is palpable through the reflexes of the fingers," the company said.
