Sony is working on producing a new generation of 3D sensors for mobile cameras, after several customers, including Apple, have shown interest in the product. It could be the next iPhone in 2019 with 3D rear cameras, according to the expectations of experts. According to a report from Bloomberg, technicians and Sony should start producing sensors from the end of next summer.
This addition is likely to be a boon for handset manufacturers who hope to increase sales of its slow hardware, as there is no reason for users to replace their old phone with a new one, Sky News said.
"I'm sure we will definitely adopt 3D cameras," said Bloomberg, head of Sony's sensor division.
According to the AIT NEWS technical website, Huawei also plans to use Sony's 3D cameras with its next-generation models.
