Nancy Roman
The photographer Nancy Roman of the Hubble Space Telescope died at the age of 93.
The Associated Press news agency announced the death of the scientist, citing his cousin.
NASA has been working in the agency since 1959 and has become the first woman in American history to hold a leadership position in the region, according to NASA.
Roman is also associated with the design of the famous Hubble Space Lab. NASA officials have called after Hubble was launched into space by Hubble's mother.
Roman resigned from his high position at NASA in 1979.
Roman was a member of the women's movement. His reputation in the United States and around the world is known for his scientific and social work. He was also named one of the newly discovered constellations, "2516 Roman".
Lego, a Danish company, has launched a puppet group entitled "NASA Women" by Nancy Roman.
Hubble is a space laboratory working in Earth orbit, named after American astronomer Edwin Powell Hubble (1889-1953).
