A study by experts from the Brighton and Sussex Medical Colleges in the UK revealed that shisha was not severely damaged.

According to the study, shisha affects not only the smoker's airway, but also diabetes and obesity, highlighting that those who smoke it are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than nonsmokers .

The study, published in the British daily newspaper Daily Mail and The Telegraph, confirmed that a chisha inhalation session is far worse than smoking a pack of cigarettes.

The study involved 9,840 participants, including 6742 non-smokers, 976 former smokers, 864 former cigarette smokers, 1067 former shisha smokers, 41 chisha smokers and cigarettes.

Experts explained that the reason why shisha causes obesity and diabetes due to an inflammatory reaction in the body and makes some tissues resistant to the effect of insulin hormone responsible for controlling the sugar in the blood, and is likely to be related to habits leading to weight gain.
