Russian oncologist Mikhail Myasenyankin has announced that tongue cancer not only affects a person’s quality of life, but can also make them mute and prevent them from eating.
The doctor said that the main reason a person gets this disease is due to bad habits, especially smoking and drinking alcohol. As for the chewing of various mixtures and congenital diseases, such as chapped tongue, leukoplakia, chronic infections of the mouth and lesions of the mucous membrane of the tongue, they can also provoke the emergence of this disease.
He stressed the particular importance of dental health monitoring, as rotten roots or poor quality composite dentures can also cause oral cancer.
Among the symptoms of this disease, the doctor Miasniyanken indicated the appearance of knots or cracks in the tongue, as well as the occurrence of discomfort in the mucous membrane. He explained, “In severe cases, an unpleasant odor may appear in the mouth, swelling, bruising and bleeding,” calling for medical help immediately if painful sensations appear in the mouth.
Oral and maxillofacial tumor surgeon Igor Malinovsi previously said that the cause of cancer development may be chronic injuries. As for tongue cancer, it can be triggered by bad dentures and broken teeth.
